Rooibos is known to reduce inflammation, alleviate abdominal pains, improve appearance of skin, and aid in weight loss. It helps to relieve wheezing and coughing caused by allergic rhinitis and asthma – it also has antihistamine properties. It is known to assist with building strong bones and preventing diseases such as arthritis and osteoporosis. Rooibos also helps to control diabetes and support heart health. Stinging Nettle’s key action is to cleanse and detox the whole body - it is helpful for gout and arthritis, poor kidney function and fluid retention. It eases hay fever, asthma, eczema, and allergic disorders. It can also be used to treat anaemia and sciatica. It may be helpful in reducing mucus in the lungs and bronchial catarrh. It can be used to improve breast milk production as well as for specific childhood and nervous eczema. This herb is also used to treat internal haemorrhages. It may assist with the reduction of enlarged prostate glands. It can be used for dysentery, jaundice, and infertility too. Externally, it can be used for nose bleeds and insect bites as well as hair treatment to prevent hair loss, encourage new growth and clear dandruff and oily hair.
Directions for use – Infuse 1-3 teaspoons of the herbs to 1 cup of boiling water and let stand for 10- 15 mins. Strain and drink 3 times a day.
Safety and precautions – These herbs are considered safe at recommended dosages. Occasional side effects may include a mild upset stomach, fluid retention, and hives (if used topically). Do not use if pregnant or breast feeding. Do not take in conjunction with diuretic medications. Avoid if you have heart failure or kidney disease.
